Accountant IV

Beaufort-Jasper Water & Sewer Authority is seeking a highly skilled Accountant IV to join our team. As a key member of our accounting department, you will be responsible for ensuring the proper and ethical functioning of our accounting and financial information system.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, including internal controls and compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
2. Act as the system administrator of our financial information system, setting up new general ledger accounts and vendor setup/maintenance.
3. Administer Wells Fargo banking and corporate credit card platforms.
4. Assist the Accounting Manager with monthly financial statements, financial analysis, and preparation for the annual audit and comprehensive financial report.
5. Prepare the annual operations budget, coordinating with other departments and compiling request data.
6. Review and process various financial documents, including accounts payable checks, vendor invoices, bank reconciliations, and adjusting journal entries.
7. Examine internal processes and provide recommendations for efficiencies through technology.
8. Maintain awareness of new products, technologies, and trends in the accounting profession, attending conferences and workshops as necessary.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, supplemented by five years of experience and/or training in governmental accounting, budgeting, or finance.
• Good analytical skills, computer proficiency, and mathematical skills.
• Ability to evaluate, audit, and assess data using established criteria.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Working Conditions:

This is a full-time position, and the selected candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment with moderate stress levels.
