Tanner Health System is seeking a dedicated Nurse Practitioner to take on the role of Coordinator for the Structural Heart Program. This position involves the planning, development, implementation, and management of the Structural Heart Program, working under the guidance of the Heart and Vascular Executive Director and the Cardiology Medical Director. The program encompasses various advanced structural heart procedures, including but not limited to MitraClip, TAVR/TAVI, LAAO, PFO/ASD, and paravalvular leak repair.

The ideal candidate will exhibit exceptional leadership abilities, outstanding communication skills, and a strong capacity for collaboration with physicians and other healthcare professionals. This role requires close cooperation with Cardiac Surgeons, Cardiologists, Interventional Cardiologists, and the broader healthcare team to ensure comprehensive care for patients undergoing structural heart interventions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate a collaborative team approach with the multidisciplinary Structural Heart team to create a comprehensive care plan, starting from initial evaluations through to post-procedure follow-ups.
  • Deliver medical care and treatment within the established nursing scope for hospital inpatients and valve clinic patients, as directed by the collaborating physician.
  • Organize and coordinate healthcare education for patients, families, and other healthcare providers as necessary.
  • Assist in achieving accreditation compliance and regulatory alignment, while enhancing performance on national and state/local public-reported measures.
  • Maintain an established electronic database, ensuring timely submission of patient demographic, medical, and progress report information as required by regulatory agencies.
  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives aimed at optimizing patient outcomes through education and clinical expertise.
  • Manage specific tasks including scheduling outpatient evaluations, coordinating implantation procedures, maintaining the valve database, and overseeing documentation related to patient experiences.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
  • A Master's degree is required, with Nurse Practitioner designation preferred.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in cardiac/vascular surgery and/or invasive cardiology.
  • Proficiency in physical assessment, lab data interpretation, and nursing theory and practice is essential.
  • Experience in teaching patients, families, and staff is required.

Certification:

  • ACLS/BLS certification is mandatory.
  • Certification in Critical Care with a Cardiac Surgery sub-specialty or related certification is preferred.

License:

  • A current license to practice as a Registered Nurse Practitioner in the State of Georgia is required.
