Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Database Administrator to join our team at Oglethorpe Power. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance, integrity, and security of our database systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and control database objects, defining and implementing access, specification, placement, and security.
  • Develop and implement corporate database strategies, including database design, development, and deployment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and operation of databases.
  • Perform database optimization and troubleshooting, ensuring data integrity, quality, and reliability.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices, participating in industry conferences and workshops.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience, with a strong background in database administration, management, and optimization.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills, with a strong customer service focus.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages, such as PowerShell, Bash, and Python, and experience with ITSM tools, such as ServiceNow and Ivanti ITSM.
  • Knowledge of ITIL processes and best practices, with a strong understanding of network and system security best practices.

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, Oracle Database Administrator Certified Professional, IBM Certified Database Administrator, Google Professional Data Engineer Certification, MongoDB Certified DBA Associate, AWS Certified Database - Specialty, SAP Certified Technology Associate - Database Administrator, Microsoft SQL Server database certifications, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Data Center, Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP), PostgreSQL Certified Engineer, CompTIA Database+ Certification, Certified Database Design Specialist, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), ITILv3 or ITILv4 Foundation.
  • Experience with configuration management tools, containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes), and business intelligence tool support.
