Nursing & Clinical EHR Consultant Opportunity

Abacus is seeking a highly experienced Nursing & Clinical Consultant to support the implementation of a Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) electronic health record (EHR) system.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in nursing and clinical consulting, with experience in documenting clinical activity in an EHR, preferably in a public health setting.

This is a unique opportunity to work alongside VDH's existing Clinical and Nursing staff in both the central office and with 120 VDH offices during the estimated 30-month EHR planning, configuration, and phased implementation period.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Implement and configure the EHR system to meet the needs of VDH's clinical and nursing staff
  • Provide training and support to end-users on the use of the EHR system
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of the EHR system with existing systems and processes
  • Develop and maintain documentation and training materials for the EHR system
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing, with a Master's degree in a Nursing-related field preferred
  • Relevant experience in implementing healthcare software/documentation solutions
  • Current Registered Nurse License to practice in Virginia
  • Advanced computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office and medical office software
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with state or local public health departments
  • Experience with public health programs
