Job Summary

Cavalier Healthcare is seeking a highly skilled Infection Prevention and Control Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our nursing staff, you will be responsible for coordinating infection control efforts and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Conduct daily rounds to monitor infection control issues and identify areas for improvement.
  2. Review the 24-hour report daily to track residents with infections and update the master Infection Control Log.
  3. Monitor staff performance to ensure adherence to infection control protocols and provide education and training as needed.
  4. Prepare a monthly report on resident infections for presentation to the Quality Assurance Committee.
  5. Audit medical records to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements related to infection control.
  6. Assist with other nursing duties as needed, including new admissions, hospital transfers, and body audits.
  7. Promote a safe and clean environment for residents and ensure their rights are respected.
  8. Prevent abuse, neglect, and exploitation in the elderly.
  9. Perform other duties as requested by the Director of Nursing and/or Administrator.

Licensure Requirements:

Must be a Licensed Practical Nurse (L.P.N.) or Registered Nurse (R.N.) currently licensed and in good standing with the Board of Nursing in the State in which the facility is located.

Summary of Occupational Exposure:

Tasks and procedures performed by the employee involve risks classified by C.D.C. as Category I. (Direct contact with blood or other bodily fluids to which universal precautions apply.)

Other Considerations and Requirements:

Must be able to tolerate a high pace typical for a nursing facility. Must be able to take and give instructions well and enjoy working with the elderly. Although the employee is able to sit while charting medical information, he/she must be able to tolerate prolonged standing and walking.
