Corrections Officer

We are seeking highly motivated and dedicated individuals to join our team as Corrections Officers at the Red Onion State Prison. As a Corrections Officer, you will play a critical role in maintaining the safety and security of the public, staff, and supervisees. This is a challenging and rewarding career opportunity that requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Key Responsibilities- Provide security and supervision to adult supervisees at the institution and during transport
- Monitor and record supervisee behavior and movement to ensure safe and secure confinement
- Interact with visitors, staff, and the public to maintain orderly and secure operations
- Contribute to the development and implementation of evidence-based practices and principles to enhance effective communication strategies and role modeling
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to address supervisee needs and provide support services
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid Driver's License
- Ability to read and comprehend workplace policies and procedures
- Ability to lawfully possess a firearm in the Commonwealth of Virginia
- Ability to successfully complete all pre-employment requirements, including medical screening, background check, and drug testing
- Stable employment history
- Military or related criminal justice experience
