Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Host/Hostess to join our team at 925 Restaurant. As a Host/Hostess, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, ensuring a seamless dining experience for our guests, and maintaining a clean and welcoming atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greets arriving customers, seats them, and establishes rapport to accommodate special needs or requests.
  • Assigns sections to servers, notifies them of new seats, and ensures customers receive immediate attention.
  • Maintains a highly visible presence in the restaurant, circulating to assist servers, respond to customer requests, and assess the efficiency of the operation.
  • Processes transactions on the computerized cash register, counting back change and verifying accuracy of items on guest checks.
  • Ensures all charge vouchers are complete, verifies dates, charge amounts, authorization numbers, and signatures.
  • Elicits feedback from departing customers to improve the operation and increase customer base.
  • Distributes and accounts for all checks issued to servers, maintaining an accurate written check issuance log.
  • Counts revenues received, balances cash register reports, and alerts management to discrepancies.
  • Balances and reconciles computerized and manual reports at the end of each shift.
  • Maintains a clean and attractive restaurant by assisting with vacuuming, sweeping, general cleaning, and sidework duties.
  • Checks the proper set-up of tables and seating prior to opening.
  • Reports any maintenance or housekeeping discrepancies to management.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a position with heavy cash handling responsibilities and customer service exposure.
  • High school graduate level mathematical aptitude, knowledge of standard cash handling procedures, and computerized cash register systems.
  • General knowledge of basic customer service skills, restaurant operations, and food service principles.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in English, follow written and verbal instructions, and work on multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to use tact and understanding when dealing with customer service problems, including stressful and highly emotional situations.
  • Ability to handle coins and writing utensils, grasp handles, push buttons, and carry dishes.
  • Ability to lift and carry trays and bus tubs weighing up to 10lbs.
  • Ability to stand throughout the entire shift and lift arms above head to retrieve objects from shelves.
  • Ability to read written communiques, computer screens, and print-outs, see colors, and survey the entire room in dimly lit conditions.
