Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Technologist to join our team at Weirton Medical Center. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of standardized tests, including advanced and specialized tests, using techniques and equipment. They will also be responsible for interpreting results, entering data into medical records, and conducting maintenance and performance checks on laboratory equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Obtains or receives specimens and performs tests using techniques and equipment.
  • Interprets results and enters data into medical records.
  • Conducts maintenance and performance checks on laboratory equipment.
  • Recognizes biohazards and processes specimens accordingly.
  • Evaluates media, reagents, and standards according to established criteria.
  • Conducts quality control procedures and evaluates results.
  • Assesses the validity of laboratory results through correlation of data with patient chart information.


Requirements:

A B.A. or B.S. degree in Medical Technology is preferred. The successful candidate must be registered with the American Society of Pathologists or an equivalent national registry. One year of clinical internship and experience in laboratory procedures is required.
