Position Overview: The role of the driver at Transitional Center Inc involves operating school buses and vans with a focus on safety and efficiency. Responsibilities include adhering to all traffic laws and regulations to ensure the well-being of passengers, confirming that all children are accounted for at the end of each route, and maintaining knowledge of designated routes and stops. Additionally, drivers are expected to keep the vehicle clean and in good working order, along with other tasks as assigned by management.
Work Environment:
- Physical Demands: This position may involve mental and visual stress from prolonged periods of screen time. The role requires limited lifting, primarily of light items, and involves extended periods of sitting.
- Work Setting: The work environment is typical of an office setting, with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards. Note that the facility can be dynamic and occasionally noisy.
- Equipment Utilized: The role requires the use of various office equipment including computers, telephones, and printers.

Qualifications:
All candidates must possess a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with the necessary endorsements for operating a school bus. Specifically, a School Bus Endorsement (S) and a Passenger Endorsement (P) are mandatory for this position. Candidates must also meet the following criteria:
- Be at least 21 years of age.
- Hold a valid driver's license issued by the appropriate authority.
- Pass both written and practical exams for the required endorsements.
- Have a clean driving record with no significant traffic violations.
Background Checks: Candidates will undergo comprehensive background checks, including criminal history, drug screening, and verification of qualifications.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry light items and perform tasks that require mobility and stamina.
- Capability to work both indoors and outdoors as needed.
- Must maintain emotional stability and focus to fulfill job responsibilities effectively.
