Job Summary

The CT Technologist is responsible for performing high-quality diagnostic imaging procedures and producing accurate images for physician interpretation. The technologist works with patients, ensuring their safety, comfort, and understanding of the procedure while maintaining the proper use of CT imaging equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform complex CT imaging procedures in accordance with physician orders and department protocols.
  • Evaluate and monitor images for diagnostic quality, ensuring all images are clear and complete.
  • Review and document patient history, including allergies and contraindications, prior to performing CT exams.
  • Administer and monitor the effects of contrast media as necessary, adhering to safety guidelines.
  • Prepare patients for procedures by explaining the process, positioning them, and providing necessary shielding.
  • Collaborate with radiologists to clarify orders, address concerns, and discuss image quality or additional imaging needs.
  • Maintain cleanliness and proper functioning of CT equipment, including performing regular quality control checks.
  • Input and retrieve patient data from the hospital's electronic medical records (EMR) system.
  • Comply with safety standards, radiation protection protocols, and infection control measures.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of procedures performed, patient care provided, and relevant observations.
  • Assist with patient transfers, ensuring their safety and comfort during the procedure.
  • Provide excellent patient care, answering questions and addressing any concerns.
  • Participate in on-call or overtime duties as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a CT Technologist.
  • Proficiency in operating CT equipment and familiarity with radiology software.
  • Experience in starting IVs and administering contrast agents.
  • Knowledge of anatomy, radiation protection techniques, and diagnostic imaging procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with patients, physicians, and colleagues.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
Education & Certifications:
  • Required:
    • Graduate from an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
    • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) Certification.
    • State Radiography License (specific to North Dakota or ability to obtain).
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA or other accredited organizations.
  • Preferred:
    • ARRT (CT) Certification.
    • Advanced training or certification in CT imaging.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift a minimum of 25 lbs.
  • Ability to push and pull a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, and lifting of patients as necessary.
Work Environment:
  • The CT Technologist works in a hospital or outpatient imaging center setting.
  • Shift schedules may vary, including weekends, holidays, and on-call assignments, depending on department needs.
