We are seeking a Full-time Reference Librarian - Access and E-Resources to join our team.
Job SummaryThe Reference Librarian will provide excellent customer service in providing reference services and information literacy instruction to students, faculty, and staff. They will also develop the library's collection to ensure it meets the curricular needs of the campus, providing an accessible, comprehensive, and supportive environment for teaching and learning.
Key Responsibilities- Provide research services to students, faculty, and staff in person, virtually, embedded, and through the development of online guides.
- Maintain access to the library's electronic resources and promote and facilitate the use of Open Educational Resources at SCC. Electronic resource management will include licensing, acquisition, and activation of electronic resources and the receipt of physical resources.
- Provide information literacy instruction in various settings, including the classroom, online, and instructional videos following Association of College & Research Libraries (ACRL) guidelines, which include emerging technology such as AI.
- Develop and manage print and electronic library collections, including initiating requests for new materials, evaluating the current collection, and recommending materials for withdrawal.
- Serve as a liaison to faculty in assigned academic departments to expand the use of library resources and support student learning. Represent the library on college and professional library committees and participate in events on campus.
A master's degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited institution is required. Two or more years of relevant full-time experience providing reference assistance and instruction and a familiarity with electronic resource management are preferred. A strong public service commitment and ability to work in a highly collaborative, culturally diverse environment are also required.
