This role is part of the Paramedic Commitment Incentive Program, which rewards experienced Paramedics with a total of $5,000, distributed in equal payments over three years.

About Us:

UNC Health Care operates as a leading critical care and emergency transportation service, proudly serving North Carolina and neighboring regions since 1986. Our resources include a fleet of ambulances and four helicopters, all managed by our dedicated communications center.

Our Operations:

We maintain helicopter bases in multiple locations, with each rotor-wing aircraft staffed by a nurse and a paramedic. Our team responds to emergency calls and facilitates interfacility transfers for critically ill patients. Our ground transport services are strategically positioned throughout the Triangle area.

In addition to our Critical Care Transport teams, we have specialized Neonatal Specialty Care Teams dedicated to providing care for our youngest patients.

Position Overview:

As a Ground Paramedic, you will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring safe and timely transport of patients while delivering both basic and advanced life support.
  • Monitoring patient conditions during transport to provide optimal stabilization, utilizing critical care expertise.
  • Communicating effectively with dispatch, medical staff, and family members to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Documenting patient status and care delivery in accordance with established protocols.
  • Operating medical equipment and ensuring functionality throughout the transport process.
  • Administering emergency and critical care procedures as needed, following established medical protocols.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • High School diploma or GED.

Licensure/Certification:

  • North Carolina EMT-Paramedic certification or National Equivalent.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Trauma certification (ITLS, PHTLS, or TNCC).

Experience:

  • A minimum of three years of Paramedic experience in a high-volume ALS EMS service or equivalent.
