Civil Engineer Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Civil Engineer to join our team at Urban Design Consulting Engineers (UDCE). As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for assisting in civil engineering and stormwater design, as well as the submission of construction documents.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and manage construction documents, including progress tracking and regular follow-ups
  • Create and modify engineering drawings, exhibits, and schematics using CAD software
  • Translate general direction and simple sketches from senior engineers into detailed design criteria
  • Perform grading design, surface modeling, and site development for urban facilities
  • Apply knowledge of ADA CBC code related to site development projects
  • Conduct site assessments to develop site layout, grading, drainage, and utility plans
  • Collaborate with other members of the design team to develop and refine project design concepts
  • Provide technical support to project managers and other team members
Requirements:
  • BS in Civil Engineering plus 3-5 years of relevant engineering experience or equivalent work experience
  • Engineering-in-Training (EIT) preferred
  • Strong interest in pursuing a Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of California
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction documents
  • Experience with Civil 3D, Vehicle Tracking, with an understanding of advanced surface modeling capabilities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Skilled knowledge of Bluebeam
  • Fluent professional communication skills
Work Environment:

Our office is located in the San Francisco Bay Area, and we are willing to travel within the Bay Area for periodic site visits.
