Position Overview

This position is part of a dynamic educational environment at Michigan State University (MSU) within Lyman Briggs College (LBC). We are seeking qualified candidates to serve as instructors for introductory chemistry courses. This role may be part-time or full-time, and availability may vary by semester.


About Lyman Briggs College

Founded in 1967, LBC is a vibrant residential STEM college that emphasizes the study of science in various contexts. Our curriculum merges innovative science pedagogy with interdisciplinary approaches, exploring both scientific principles and their societal implications.


Teaching Responsibilities

Instructors will engage students through a combination of flipped and traditional instructional methods, fostering active participation in group work and laboratory experiments. The laboratory courses involve multi-week, student-driven projects, supported by Undergraduate Learning Assistants who collaborate with course instructors.


Qualifications

Required: A Doctorate in chemistry, chemistry education, or a closely related field for Assistant Professor rank, or a Master's degree for Instructor rank with relevant teaching experience.

Desired: Experience in higher education chemistry instruction, a PhD in a relevant field, and a background in mentoring undergraduate students.
