The Orthopedic and Neurological Surgery Department is equipped with advanced operating rooms and a dedicated recovery area, ensuring comprehensive care for a diverse patient demographic ranging from infants to the elderly, specializing in various orthopedic and neurological procedures. A minimum of one year of experience as a Surgical Technologist is required, specifically in Orthopedic and Neurological services.

$7,500 Sign-on bonus offered.

SUMMARY:

Responsible for executing preoperative tasks, including the selection and arrangement of surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment. Assists the surgical team in donning sterile attire and provides necessary instruments, sutures, and sterile supplies during surgical operations. Ensures proper draping of patients for surgical procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Monitors high-risk and complex cases, implementing necessary actions.

Prepares surgical rooms with the required instruments, sutures, supplies, and equipment.

Aids in the identification, collection, and preservation of specimens.

Assists in maintaining accurate counts of instruments, sutures, and sponges.

Oversees and replenishes supplies as needed.

Trains and orients assigned personnel.

Opens sterile supplies and sets up for surgical procedures.

Decontaminates instruments, supplies, and equipment in accordance with established protocols; handles and stores items appropriately.

Communicates effectively with team members, patients, and medical staff to ensure optimal patient care.

Transports patients to and from the operating room; positions patients according to the type of surgery being performed.

Conducts biological and chemical monitoring in line with quality assurance standards.

Adheres to organizational and departmental safety, confidentiality, values, policies, and standards.

Performs related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: High school diploma or GED.

EXPERIENCE: One (1) year of surgical assistance experience preferred.

LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Surgical Technologist Certification is mandatory. Additional certifications may be required depending on departmental needs.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Familiarity with surgical assistance procedures and best practices.
  • Proficiency in sterilization and preparation for various surgical procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedural manuals.
  • Capability to complete routine reports and correspondence.
  • Strong listening skills to accurately interpret communications and instructions.
  • Effective verbal communication skills for addressing groups of customers or employees.
  • Ability to perform calculations and interpret data.
  • Capacity to apply common sense in executing detailed instructions.
  • Competence in addressing problems with standardized solutions.
