About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Formulation Chemist to join our Product Development team at John Paul Mitchell Systems. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for formulating innovative hair color, care, and styling concepts, lines, and reactive products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop new hair colors, care, and styling formulations, setting new industry standards for quality and innovation
  • Create prototypes, monitor pilots to full-scale production, ensuring the transition is efficient, cost-effective, and adheres to the highest quality standards
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure hair color product development aligns with market demands and company goals
  • Drive the pursuit of hair color, care, and styling innovations, leveraging deep industry knowledge and analytical skills to keep JPMS at the forefront of professional hair color, care, and styling
Requirements
  • Formulation skills in all hair color, care, and styling technologies
  • Raw material knowledge (especially dyes), FDA/EU/UK cosmetic directive guidelines
  • Color perception and color matching skills
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of compounding/production equipment and facilities
  • Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness, always looking for ways to improve and promote quality
  • Observe safety and security procedures, determine appropriate action beyond guidelines, report potentially unsafe conditions and use equipment and materials properly
What We Offer
  • Competitive base salary range: $100,000 to $120,000
  • Discretionary bonus plan based on personal performance and company results
