Server Position Overview

Chez Philippe, a specialty restaurant, is seeking a skilled Server to provide exceptional service to our guests. As a Server, you will be the face of our restaurant, ensuring a warm and welcoming experience for our guests.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide exceptional service to guests, ensuring their needs are met and exceeded.
  • Take food and beverage orders, utilizing up-selling techniques to enhance the guest experience.
  • Manage tables, ensuring timely service and maintaining a clean and organized environment.
  • Work closely with the kitchen and other servers to ensure seamless service.
  • Process payments and handle cash and credit transactions accurately.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 18 years of age to serve alcoholic beverages.
  • 1-2 years experience as a fine dining Server.
  • Fluency in English, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask effectively.
  • Knowledge of various food service styles and ability to adapt to changing situations.
Physical Abilities:
  • Ability to stand and walk continuously for an entire shift.
  • Ability to lift and transport restaurant equipment and supplies up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to reach overhead and move freely within food outlet areas.
Working Environment:

Our restaurant is a dynamic and fast-paced environment, with variable temperature conditions and noise levels. As a Server, you will be working in a kitchen/stewarding service area, surrounded by chemicals and equipment.

Key Relationships:
  • Internal: Staff in Restaurant, Beverage, Kitchen/Stewarding, Housekeeping and Front Desk.
  • External: Hotel Guests and Visitors.
Essential Job Functions:
  1. Must be certified in ServeSafe food handling.
  2. Must be certified in TIPS alcohol awareness training within 60 days of employment.
  3. Must be certified in TRAC training and compliance.
  4. Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies, service procedures and standards.
  5. Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment.
  6. Anticipate and maintain awareness of guests' needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests.
  7. Maintain positive guest relations at all times.
  8. Be familiar with all hotel services/features and local attractions/activities in order to respond to guest inquiries accurately.
  9. Resolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction.
  10. Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned work areas.
  11. Maintain complete knowledge of table/seat/station numbers, room capacity, hours of operation, proper table set-up and dress code of the restaurant.
  12. Maintain complete knowledge of all liquor brands, beers and non-alcoholic selections, correct glassware and garnishes in the restaurant.
  13. Maintain knowledge of the particular characteristics and description of every wine/champagne by the glass and major wines on the wine list.
  14. Maintain complete knowledge of all menu items, prices, preparation method/time, major ingredients, quality standards of taste, appearance, texture, serving temperature, portion size, garnish and method of presentation.
  15. Maintain complete knowledge of and strictly abide by state liquor regulations, particularly those prohibiting service to minors, intoxicated persons and drunk driving.
  16. Maintain complete knowledge of POS and manual systems.
  17. Complete opening side duties as assigned.
  18. Complete closing side duties as assigned.
Secondary Job Functions:
  1. Follow maintenance program and cleaning schedule.
  2. Replace flowers and vases twice weekly.
  3. Inform manager of any dining room deficiencies.
  4. Attend menu and wine tastings as scheduled.
