At Fork Union Military Academy, our mission is to educate, develop, and inspire young men within a college preparatory, Christian, military structured setting. Our cadets cultivate character and learn essential life skills such as leadership, independence, responsibility, and discipline, all while promoting mental, physical, and spiritual growth. Our staff plays a vital role in fostering this environment.

Role Description
Housekeeping team members are expected to uphold and promote the Academy's mission and core values. Ensuring cadet safety and maintaining a high-quality environment is our utmost priority. Our housekeeping personnel are integral to campus operations, and we seek motivated individuals committed to providing exceptional service.

Key Responsibilities

Supervisory Duties:

• None unless designated as a team leader

• Team leaders may provide administrative support as required by the Director of Maintenance

General Duties:

• Maintain cleanliness in all bathrooms, hallways, and communal areas within assigned buildings, including thorough cleaning of stairways, walls, and dusting of all furniture and fixtures

• Strip, clean, and wax floors as necessary

• Organize and maintain cleaning supply closets in an orderly fashion

• Ensure restrooms are stocked with necessary paper supplies, sanitizers, and soaps

• Collect and dispose of trash from receptacles

• Assist with unloading supplies and setting up for events

• Support in the setup and breakdown of tables and chairs for various functions

• Address emergency cleaning tasks such as spills and leaks

• Perform additional duties as required

Seasonal Responsibilities

• Conduct seasonal cleaning to remove mud or pollen from surfaces

• Manage seasonal cleanup of salt residue from floors

• Engage in off-season deep cleaning projects as assigned

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Expected working hours are 1:30PM - 10:00PM, Monday through Friday

• Flexibility in hours may be required during seasonal events or as per Academy needs

• Knowledge of housekeeping best practices is essential

• Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and management

• Must successfully pass a background check and participate in random drug testing

Education and Experience

• Previous experience in housekeeping is preferred

Physical Requirements

• Ability to navigate up to three flights of stairs as needed

• Capability to push, pull, or lift items weighing up to 60 pounds

• Ability to sit, stand, twist, kneel, or squat as required

• Capacity to raise arms overhead to perform tasks

• Endurance for prolonged periods of standing, sitting, or engaging in various projects as necessary
