Chief of Staff

The College of Charleston seeks a highly skilled and experienced Chief of Staff to serve as the chief advisor and aide to the Chancellor. This is a critical leadership role that requires a strong understanding of the College's mission, goals, and objectives, as well as the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
• Serve as the Chancellor's chief advisor and aide, providing strategic guidance and support on key initiatives and projects.
• Coordinate actions with the Administration Team and Cabinet, and collaborate with the Chancellor's direct reports and college executive management.
• Oversee and inform the Chancellor of the day-to-day operations of the office, including budget, staffing, and operating procedures.
• Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve the College's goals and objectives.
• Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including faculty, staff, students, alumni, and community leaders.
• Provide leadership and direction to the Chancellor's office, including supervising and mentoring staff members.
Requirements:
• Master's degree in business or public administration, educational leadership, strategic leadership, or a related field from an accredited institution.
• Seven (7) years of senior management experience, five (5) years of which includes leading and/or supervising staff in an academic setting.
• A doctorate in a related field is desired.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Collective bargaining and participatory governance processes.
• Tools, techniques, and tactics to build collaborative cross-functional teams.
• Techniques for team building, project management, and collaborative goal development.
• Current practices, ideas, and research in higher education.
• Management practices and techniques, including assessment and continuous improvement.
• The mission, goals, and objectives of public higher education and the community it serves.
• Statistical analysis software/strategies, survey design and administration.
• Strategic planning concepts, theory, and practice, including organizational models and best practices.
