Akron Children's Hospital is seeking a skilled Patient Service Representative to join our team. As a Patient Service Representative, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and administrative support to our patients and families.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide Excellent Patient Care
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with patients and families by greeting and responding to their needs in a prompt and caring manner.
Administrative Support
- Manage Front Desk Operations
- Perform point-of-service activities, including visit preparation, co-pay collection, and patient tracking, as assigned by the supervisor.
Scheduling and Coordination
- Schedule Patient Visits
- Utilize hospital procedures and resources to schedule patient visits or other diagnostic testing.
Financial Management
- Manage Third-Party Payors
- Collect co-pays and manage third-party payors in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
Office Administration
- Perform Routine Tasks
- Perform routine tasks, such as faxing, copying, filing, and mailings, as well as promptly returning phone calls and taking and distributing messages.
Additional Responsibilities
- Ensure Department Appearance
- Ensure the cleanliness of the work area and waiting room, as needed.
Requirements
- Education and Experience
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Relevant experience in a general office setting or healthcare environment is preferred.
Technical Expertise
- Computer Skills
- Experience working in a computerized scheduling system and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) or similar software is required.
Personal Qualities
- Interpersonal Skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and other staff members.
