Job Summary:

Ambe Healthcare Staffing is seeking a skilled Physical Therapist to provide high-quality outpatient and inpatient physical therapy care. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in evidence-based medicine and excellent patient care skills.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide full-time outpatient and inpatient physical therapy care to patients of all ages and diagnoses.
  • Develop and implement patient care plans that incorporate evidenced-based medicine.
  • Exemplify professional conduct, patient care ethics, and respect for cultural diversity.
  • Modify patient care plans as needed, taking into account age-specific and patient-specific considerations.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited program in Physical Therapy.
  • No minimum clinical experience required, but hospital-based experience is helpful.
  • Licensed in good standing in Alaska as a Physical Therapist, or have all necessary paperwork completed to work as a Student Physical Therapist post-graduation.
  • Current BLS certification.
Work Environment:

The Physical Therapist will work in a standard Physical Therapy Department environment, which includes hi-lo tables, whirlpools, therapeutic exercise equipment, ultrasound, and electric stimulation modalities.

Village-Based:

In village-based settings, the Physical Therapist will typically have access to a treatment table and will need to bring out necessary equipment for patient care.

Competencies:
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret physical therapy periodicals and medical literature.
  • Ability to compose patient care documentation and medical correspondence.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with medical staff, peers, and administrative personnel.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with members of different cultures who may or may not speak English.
  • Ability to operate a personal computer, including basic MS Office programs and email.
  • Ability to utilize the internet to access medical literature beneficial to patient care.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percents, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Position Urgency:

This is a normal shift position with a high level of urgency.

State License Details:
  • Upon acceptance, the Physical Therapist will be required to have a minimum of 2 years of experience.
  • Minimum guaranteed hours will be 4 per week.
Specialty Type:

This position requires the Physical Therapist to have competencies in IV/Central Line Site care, Fall precautions, Age-Specific competencies, Abuse/Neglect, Pain Management, Restraints and Seclusion, End of Life, Infant Abduction, and Blood Transfusions.

Agency Nurses:

Agency nurses will need to be prepared to take a math test on medication calculations for adults and pediatrics upon arrival and before working the floor.

Right of Return Transportation:

YKHC will provide return transportation (at the cost to the organization) upon termination of an employment agreement, unless the termination is due to falsification of employment application, violation of the organization's Drug and Alcohol-Free Workplace Policy, fighting, or unexcused absence from duties for more than three consecutive scheduled work days.
