About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized accounting professional to join our team at JBG SMITH. As a publicly-traded Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT), we offer a dynamic and fast-paced environment where you can launch your career and continue to advance your skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the billing and reconciliation of some of the management company's largest revenue streams, following GAAP revenue recognition policies and performing calculations of fees.
  • Record and analyze changes in payroll-related expenses for 150+ entities with differing ownership structures.
  • Prepare account reconciliations for various accounting areas, ranging from routine to complex ones that require technical prowess.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to gather relevant business and financial operations information to achieve Corporate accounting goals.
  • Embrace the professional opportunities of working at a public company, including preparing financial disclosures timely to meet SEC filing deadlines and adhering to SOX-compliant processes.
  • Lead special projects or complete other tasks as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
  • 2+ years of related accounting experience.
  • CPA or active candidate preferred.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong computer skills.
  • Public accounting or real estate/REIT experience are pluses.
