Laborer I

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced General Laborer I to join our team at the City of Jonesboro. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing manual work requiring the application of techniques and knowledge above the basic laboring level in the upkeep of City roadways, right-of-ways, park facilities, and other areas for an assigned City department.

• Perform semi-skilled, unskilled, and manual work functions associated with various City department projects, including roadside maintenance, mowing/edging grass, cutting tree limbs, repairing posts, signs, clean drains and ditches, etc.
• Install signs, stripes parking lots, trim trees and buses, and maintain park landscaping.
• Provide support for special city events and perform related duties.

• High School diploma or GED with a minimum of three related experience in general laborer type work or related area.
• Must be able to perform tasks that require physical ability, including stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling objects and materials of moderate weight (12-20 pounds).
• Must be able to perceive and discriminate sounds, odor, and visual cues or signals, and communicate orally.
• Must be able to work in adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, or violence.

The work environment is outdoors, with exposure to various weather conditions, and may involve working at heights or in confined spaces.
