- The Registered Nurse in the ICU delivers direct patient care utilizing the nursing process in alignment with established standards and practices.
- Responsible for implementing care plans, which include administering medications, collecting specimens, and providing clinical treatments.
- Maintains accurate documentation of patient care and effectively communicates patient status to the care team, physicians, patients, and families.
- Assists patients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, nutrition, and mobility.
- Collaborates across disciplines to ensure coordinated patient care, including transfers, discharges, referrals, and addressing spiritual or psychosocial needs.
- Assesses the educational needs of patients and families, providing tailored education based on age, culture, and specific circumstances.
- Acts as an advocate for the emotional and physical health of patients.
