Position Summary:
In collaboration with the Chair of the Department of Biology and fellow faculty members, this role focuses on delivering laboratory instruction for introductory biology courses at the 100-level, with potential opportunities to teach advanced courses aligned with the instructor's expertise. Responsibilities include the preparation of laboratory exercises and materials, conducting 3-4 lab sections weekly, and evaluating student performance. The institution is dedicated to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace where all community members feel respected and valued.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Deliver and evaluate student performance in laboratory sections for the introductory biology curriculum
  • Prepare laboratory activities and materials, ensuring laboratories are well-equipped
  • Instruct upper-level laboratory sections as required
  • Engage in curriculum development initiatives
  • Adhere to all departmental safety protocols
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned; roles and duties may evolve over time with or without prior notice
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in biology or a related discipline, or equivalent education and experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities

KEY INTERACTIONS:
This position involves significant engagement with faculty, staff, students, and various stakeholders.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Typical office and campus setting. The role involves sitting, with frequent movement required. Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds may be necessary. Computer usage involving repetitive hand/wrist motions is also a part of the job.
