We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Audio Visual Event Specialist to join our team at Waukesha County Technical College. As a key member of our events team, you will be responsible for providing live technical and customer support for college events, operating and maintaining AV systems, and coordinating event production with internal and external customers.
Key Responsibilities- Event Support: Set up, operate, and tear down AV equipment (sound, lighting, and video) used to conduct live events.
- Technical Support: Support and engage event organizers and internal team members to ensure successful operation of AV equipment during live events.
- AV Equipment Maintenance: Install, configure, troubleshoot, inspect, maintain, and repair AV equipment to mitigate disruptions to live events and equipment downtime.
- Logistics and Scheduling: Coordinate week-of-event logistics and scheduling with event manager and organizers.
- Ticketing System: Use ticketing system to document and respond to equipment issues.
- Team Collaboration: Communicate and operate cohesively with IT/events teams, execute polished/functional tech solutions, and deliver professional customer service to event organizers.
- Additional Responsibilities: Provide back-up support for Information Technology Services operations, support classroom AV support needs, and train/mentor team on operation of AV equipment.
- Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of AV equipment such as microphones, speakers, lights, cameras, displays, mixers, amps, consoles, controllers, and computers (Extron, Shure, QSC, Mackie, and Fresco).
- Networking and Controls: Knowledge of networking and controls integrated into AV systems.
- Professionalism and Communication: Ability to perform in a professional manner with a heavy emphasis in near-flawless execution and customer support.
- Troubleshooting and Repair: Ability to troubleshoot, repair, resolve AV equipment issues.
- Basic Technical Maintenance: Ability to perform basic technical maintenance.
- Learning and Adaptability: Ability to learn new operations, set priorities, and work effectively and professionally under pressure.
- Customer Service: Ability to assist end users with various technical issues.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to analyze and resolve complex technical problems/challenges.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to follow detailed directions, prioritize and organize work, and complete tasks.
- Confidentiality and Discretion: Ability to exercise sound judgment, including appropriate handling of confidential matters.
- Teamwork and Communication: Ability to communicate and work effectively independently and in a team environment with diverse college community.
- Accreditation and Experience: Accreditation from a technical school or applicable skilled trade with 4-6 years of technical training related experience to audio-visual production OR 8+ years of technical training related experience to audio-visual production.
