Applicant Pool for Adjunct Faculty, Criminal Justice
Job Summary:
Owens Community College is seeking qualified applicants for an Adjunct Faculty position in the Criminal Justice department. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching various courses in the Criminal Justice curriculum, including face-to-face and online courses.
Key Responsibilities:
• Actively participate in student learning assessment and develop course syllabi according to board policy.
• Instruct various courses in the Criminal Justice curriculum, including face-to-face and online courses.
• Prepare lesson plans and syllabi according to board policy.
• Keep accurate records and report information as necessary.
• Develop and maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice or a related field.
• At least three years of practical field experience in law enforcement.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office software, Bloom's Taxonomy, and Blackboard.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as good organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to teach online and in the classroom to students with differing learning styles.
• Ability to motivate students in online and classroom learning environments.
• Ability to adopt and incorporate new and innovative teaching elements and technologies into online and classroom courses.
• Ability to manage online and face-to-face classroom environments.
• Ability to advise students with course selection.
• Ability to build and strengthen community relationships in the criminal justice field.
Working Conditions:
This is a part-time, non-tenure track position. The successful candidate will be required to work a variable schedule, including evenings and weekends.
