Position Summary
The incumbent in this role will support the operations of the Business Enterprise Program (BEP) under the guidance of the BEP Director, ensuring compliance with BEP standards, the Randolph Sheppard Act, and relevant state regulations. A key responsibility includes advising visually impaired food service and vending operators on aspects such as merchandising, inventory management, customer relations, and sanitation, enabling them to run effective and profitable enterprises. Administrative tasks will also be part of the role.
Key Responsibilities
The following functions are essential and common across all positions in this series, though not exhaustive:
- Conduct inspections of food service locations to ensure compliance with BEP standards and public health regulations, preparing health reports and evaluations as necessary.
- Review operational records, including cash register receipts and daily deposits, to verify accuracy and assess business efficiency and profitability.
- Provide guidance to Food Service Managers on merchandising strategies, inventory oversight, and operational improvements.
- Oversee and coordinate the activities of sighted food service staff, placing orders with vendors where no manager is present.
- Address and resolve complaints related to food quality and service.
- Assist in promoting and expanding the program, evaluating potential profitability, and establishing new locations, including equipment installation and facility renovations.
- Act as the Business Enterprise Program Director in the Director's absence.
- Deliver training and support to newly appointed cafeteria managers.
Qualifications
Applicants must demonstrate competence in the following areas:
- Three years of experience in institutional or commercial food preparation and baking.
- Three years of experience adhering to safety, storage, and sanitation standards for food items.
- Six months of experience in record-keeping practices.
- Knowledge of inventory management, including ordering, receiving, tracking, and handling supplies.
- Experience in staff supervision through coursework, training, or as a lead worker overseeing others' tasks.
