About the Role

We are seeking a skilled School Nurse to join our team at Amergis. As a School Nurse, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and services in a school setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Utilize the nursing process to plan, implement, and evaluate student care needs
  • Provide skill nursing care in accordance with prescribed orders and Individualized Health Plans (IHP)
  • Perform interventions, treatments, and medications administration according to identified priorities
  • Monitor and document the effectiveness of interventions, treatments, and medications
  • Coordinate and facilitate services between the school, local health agencies, and other community resources
  • Communicate with school district personnel about student plans of care and IHP
  • Notify District School Nurse, Amergis Supervisor, parent, and physician as outlined in the IHP regarding changes in student condition, physician notification, and other relevant information
  • Evaluate and assure student safety at all times
  • Adhere to Amergis Healthcare and school district policies
  • Maintain accuracy in student health records
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited registered, practical, or vocational nursing program
  • Licensed as a Licensed Practical, Licensed Vocational, or Registered Nurse in state(s) where practicing
  • One year of professional experience, preferred
  • Complies with accepted professional standards and practice
  • Willingness to participate in skill advancement, if applicable
  • Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program
  • Current CPR
  • PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
  • Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
  • Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements
  • Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site
  • Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements
  • Ability to effectively elicit and provide information to and from appropriate individuals via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language may be required
  • Computer proficiency required
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
