POSITION OVERVIEW
The Urologist is tasked with delivering specialized urological care to patients, encompassing assessment, treatment, care planning, and evaluation of medical care. Adhering to federal and state regulations, the Urologist ensures optimal patient relations. Responsibilities include the evaluation and management of patients with various urological conditions, which may involve procedures such as cystoscopy, transurethral surgeries, nephrectomy, vasectomy, varicocele treatment, advanced pediatric surgeries, pyeloplasty, and gender affirmation surgeries. Effective communication with fellow physicians, staff, and patients is essential to meet patient needs efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and treat disorders affecting the genitourinary system, including erectile dysfunction, infertility, incontinence, bladder and prostate cancers, urethral stones, and premature ejaculation.
  • Document and review patient medical histories.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including prostate-specific antigen (PSA) screenings for prostate cancer detection.
  • Perform surgical procedures on abdominal, pelvic, or retroperitoneal areas.
  • Utilize diagnostic equipment, such as x-ray machines and fluoroscopes, to assess the nature and extent of injuries or disorders.
  • Treat lower urinary tract dysfunctions using advanced equipment, including diathermy machines, catheters, cystoscopes, and radium emanation tubes.
  • Prescribe or administer treatments such as antibiotics and antiseptics for infections or injuries.
  • Provide urological consultations to other healthcare professionals.
  • Employ non-traditional surgical methods for treating urological disorders, including extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy, laparoscopy, and laser techniques.

Qualifications

  • Valid DEA License
  • Board-certified or eligible in Urology
  • Current California Physician License
  • Completion of an accredited Urology residency program
