Job Title: Food Service, On

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Food Service staff member to join our team at The Harker School. As a key member of our food service team, you will be responsible for preparing and serving meals to our students and staff.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will have a strong background in food preparation and service, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. You will be responsible for maintaining a clean and safe kitchen, preparing and serving meals, and assisting with catering and special events.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and serve meals to students and staff
  • Maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment
  • Assist with catering and special events
  • Place food and supply orders daily
  • Maintain and prepare food for catering requests
  • Prepare for the next day's menu and meals
  • Assist where needed in other areas, including Dish room, Catering, etc.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 2 years of experience cooking and working in the food service industry
  • Experience in large-scale food preparation preferred
  • Ability to work a varied schedule of hours and days, including some weekends, as needed to fulfill the needs of the food service department
  • Ability to adapt to changes in schedule or kitchen/campus location, which may be required in order to fulfill the needs of the food service department
  • Must meet all the health and safety regulations, including uniform and hair restraints
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English
Working Conditions:
  • Must work in a noisy and crowded environment
  • Must work in and around fumes and odors
  • Exposure to varying temperatures
  • Exposure to chemicals used in washing dishes, utensils, and surrounding areas of the kitchen
  • Frequently immerses hands in water
  • Must wear proper slip-resistant shoes at all times
  • Must wear required uniform at all times
