Job Summary

The position of Forensic Interviewer is a critical role within the Children's Justice Center (CJC) in Clark County. As a civilian forensic interviewer, you will work in coordination with the CJC's multidisciplinary child abuse response team to provide timely, neutral, and legal interviews of children who have experienced suspected child abuse.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct forensic interviews of children in a timely and sensitive manner
  • Collaborate with the CJC team to identify children's special needs and approach each child in a consistent and sensitive manner
  • Participate in Peer Review and Case Review meetings to ensure high-quality interviews and case management
  • Develop and maintain relationships with law enforcement, prosecution, victim advocacy, medical, and mental health providers to ensure effective collaboration and communication
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest research and best practices in forensic interviewing and child abuse response
Requirements
  • Master's degree in psychology, social work, or a related field
  • Minimum five years of direct experience working with children and families
  • Formal training in forensic interviewing is strongly preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to effectively approach children and families who have experienced significant trauma
  • Ability to assess for special needs and utilize a skilled communication approach accordingly
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge and experience with forensic interviewing of children and fact finding within a legal framework
  • Understanding and experience with maintaining a neutral position and fact finding role within a legal framework
  • Significant expertise and understanding of child development and the psychosocial ramifications of child abuse
