We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Building Inspector, Senior to join our team at the City of Atlanta. As a key member of our building inspection team, you will be responsible for ensuring that all buildings and structures within the city meet the required safety and building codes.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct thorough building inspections to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal building codes and regulations.
- Review and inspect construction plans and documents to ensure compliance with building codes and regulations.
- Issue certificates of occupancy and conduct final inspections to ensure that buildings are safe for occupancy.
- Enforce zoning ordinances related to historic preservation and urban design.
- Collaborate with other city departments and stakeholders to ensure that building inspections are conducted in a timely and efficient manner.
- Provide technical guidance and support to less experienced building inspectors.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in building inspection or a related field.
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal building codes and regulations.
- Ability to read and interpret complex building plans and specifications.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
This position requires frequent travel to construction sites and may involve working in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
