Position Overview:
The Lead Manager, Architectural Innovation is tasked with providing pivotal leadership and specialized knowledge for various new construction, revitalization, and refurbishment initiatives. Collaborating closely with the Senior Director of Architectural Innovation, this individual will oversee and manage projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery, budget adherence, and the highest quality standards.

This role encompasses leading project teams, coordinating with architects and consultants, and offering strategic guidance to meet project objectives. Responsibilities include managing budgets, schedules, and programs; overseeing project communications and documentation; handling administrative tasks; and assigning team roles. The candidate will estimate fees, define project scopes, and review proposals and contracts for complex projects. Mentorship and oversight of team members are also key components of this position. In the absence of the Senior Director of Architectural Innovation, this role may act as the team leader.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Direct and refine the overall design process for all assigned projects.
  • Independently manage the coordination of a multidisciplinary team through various project phases.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between consultants and technical teams, as well as internal design, product, and construction teams, to ensure project priorities are met.
  • Monitor the quality and appropriateness of consultants, ensuring design objectives are achieved and providing guidance to align with brand vision.
  • Engage with senior leadership in formulating long-term planning and objectives.
  • Champion adherence to design guidelines and standards, ensuring compliance within design drawings and specifications.
  • Develop team resources to effectively manage large-scale projects, while sharing best practices across external architectural and consultancy firms.
  • Maintain quality standards throughout all design phases and proactively create new methods for improved execution.
  • Lead presentations and project reports for executive review.
  • Create planning models that align with the organization's mission and values, based on comprehensive needs assessments.
  • Track financial aspects of projects and adjust team efforts to meet agreed-upon schedules.
  • Facilitate effective communication with consultants and internal teams to identify needs and deliver value-added services.
  • Manage relationships with internal stakeholders and consultants.
  • Resolve issues promptly and escalate as necessary.
  • Communicate sensitive information effectively while seeking optimal solutions.
  • Inspire project teams to collaborate effectively and adjust strategies to achieve project goals.
  • Design and Technical Excellence:
  • Oversee the design of large-scale developments in hospitality and commercial sectors.
  • Participate in or lead the management of deliverables at all project phases.
  • Support organizational policies on project delivery, quality control, and safety.
  • Provide quick design solutions and alternatives as needed.
  • Possess comprehensive multi-disciplinary technical knowledge.
  • Communications:
  • Maintain relationships with internal stakeholders and consultants.
  • Facilitate team and consultant meetings.
  • Inform the project team of changes and updates.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and suggest constructive changes.
  • Stay informed about emerging industry practices.
  • Demonstrate a desire and ability to lead and contribute at multiple levels within the design process.
  • Additional Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate the work of Project Architects and balance multidisciplinary teams throughout project development.
  • Participate actively in design and production meetings to understand project vision.
  • Engage in reviews with governing agencies for compliance.
  • Conduct design sessions in collaboration with senior architecture and design leadership.
  • Track financial aspects of projects and coordinate team efforts to meet schedules.
  • Support the Product Development team in providing necessary assets for project alignment.
  • Serve as the main liaison for design updates to core project teams.
  • Facilitate consultant meetings to drive project goals forward.
  • Effectively communicate project information to internal leadership.
  • Motivate project teams to collaborate and achieve goals.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications, Knowledge & Skills:
  • A minimum of ten years of professional experience, with a degree in architecture from an accredited institution; licensure preferred.
  • Experience in hospitality, retail, dining, entertainment, and theme park projects.
  • Proven track record managing multi-million-dollar projects and high-performing teams.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Autodesk Revit, and familiar with related tools.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, and Photoshop.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively across diverse cultures.
  • Exceptional organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to travel domestically or internationally at least 25% of the time.
