Responsibilities

The primary role of the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is to provide clinical support under the direction of clinical supervisors and/or RN professionals. This includes ensuring smooth patient flow and physician and patient satisfaction.

The LPN serves as a liaison between patients and providers, administering medications and treatments as per RN orders and completing all assigned tasks.

A day in the life of an LPN at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

  • Following the plan of care as directed by the RN and/or clinical supervisors, which may include complying with physician orders, observing, reporting, and assisting in meeting patient needs as per the plan of care.
  • Recording vital signs, intake, and output, as well as other related responsibilities.
  • Supporting and reinforcing patient teaching and discharge planning.
  • Assisting patients with personal hygiene, nutrition, and daily activities.
  • Appropriately utilizing and caring for technical equipment and supplies.
  • Assisting physicians with medical treatments, exams, and surgical procedures appropriate to the unit.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • A current and valid New Jersey Practical Nurse license.
  • A current and valid BLS/CPR Certification by American Heart Association.
  • The ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing patient needs.
  • A strong sense of accountability for improving the lives of our patients and their caregivers.
  • Dedication to ongoing education.
  • Fluency in the Spanish language is preferred.
  • The ability and passion to deliver the highest quality of care based on a strong sense of patient focus.
  • Excellent customer service skills.

What We Offer

Hackensack Meridian Health offers a competitive salary range of $65,000 - $85,000 per year, depending on experience. We also provide a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as a 401(k) retirement plan and paid time off.
