Job Summary

Brookhaven National Laboratory is seeking a highly skilled Senior Stationary Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our Central Steam Facility team, you will be responsible for operating, maintaining, and repairing high-pressure steam plants and related equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain high-pressure steam plants and related equipment
  • Perform routine and demand maintenance and repairs as necessary
  • Monitor and secure boilers and balance of plant equipment
  • Recognize and respond to abnormal conditions
  • Assist in maintaining a high level of housekeeping, inventory, and maintenance of tools
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in marine engineering or similar technical degree
  • 1 year or equivalent of operation and maintenance experience on high-pressure steam plants
  • US Coast Guard License as 3rd assistant engineer steam vessel or higher
  • NYS or NYC license to operate high-pressure steam boilers
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of NFPA 85 - Boiler and Combustion Systems Hazards Code
  • Experience with fuel oil handling and spill control methods
