Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled Ship Checker to join our team at LMR Technical Group. As a Ship Checker, you will be responsible for conducting thorough inspections of naval vessels to validate work notifications and determine the scope of repair.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct ship checks onboard naval vessels to validate work notifications and determine the scope of repair.
- Identify interferences and special circumstances that may impact the planning process and work item development.
- Document ship checks with detailed information and photographs on approved ship check forms in PDF format.
- Collaborate with planners to provide amplifying information to aid in work item development.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Physical ability to climb ladders, transit decks, and perform work on naval vessels.
- Ability to lift, carry, and transport heavy equipment and boxes (minimum 30 lbs).
- Self-starter with excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Knowledge of naval ship compartmentation and layout.
- Ability to read, understand, and validate work notifications and determine the scope of work.
- Comprehensive writing and communication skills for verbal and written findings and recommendations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe programs, including word processing.
- Knowledge of naval structural, mechanical, piping, and electrical systems.
- Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance issued by the US Government.
- U.S. citizenship required.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- At least two years of education in a technical/vocational school, apprentice training, U.S. Navy, or equivalent.
- Associates Degree or higher preferred.
