Your Role.

As an OR RN Shift Coordinator / Charge RN, you will be expected to:

  • Supervise and/or deliver direct patient care. Assist and support staff in addressing and resolving situations related to patient/family concerns, physician inquiries, risk management, associate safety, and hospital safety.
  • Respond to patient emergencies as necessary. Act as the charge or lead individual during disaster situations.
  • Collaborate with the staffing office to adjust staff numbers according to census changes during the shift.
  • Communicate with the incoming Charge Nurse regarding census, staffing, pending admissions and discharges, any issues they should be aware of, and relevant patient information to aid in making assignments.
  • Support the unit management team in overseeing department productivity/staffing and timekeeping, while coordinating unit activities.
  • Conduct evaluations, coaching, and disciplinary actions as required.
  • Participate in hospital committees as the unit representative when necessary.
Your Qualifications.

  • ASN / ADN from an accredited program with the capability to obtain a BSN from an accredited program within four (4) years of hire, unless you have a minimum of fifteen (15) years of continuous Registered Nurse experience in an acute care setting, required.
  • Current Colorado RN license or compact license with the ability to obtain a Colorado RN license, required.
  • Current BLS certification endorsed by the American Heart Association or the ability to obtain within sixty (60) days of hire (with prior approval), required (ACLS/NRP/PALS as appropriate for unit or service).
  • Minimum of three (3) years of RN nursing experience required.

Physical Requirements:


Ongoing need for the employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, and identify equipment and supplies. Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors require the employee to communicate verbally and accurately hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues, especially during emergencies. Manual dexterity of hands and fingers is necessary to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy.

This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing necessary information, medication preparation, etc. The role also requires lifting and utilizing a full range of movement to transfer patients, which may involve bending to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment.

Typically, this includes items of varying weights, including heavy items. The employee may be expected to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment, which may involve pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items.

Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms filled with equipment and power cords. The employee may also be expected to stand in a stationary position for extended periods.
