Senior Attorney

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Attorney to join our team in the Office of Legal Services. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing legal advice and representation to the Georgia Department of Corrections.

• Providing legal advice and representation to the Department
• Reviewing and analyzing pleadings, subpoenas, and similar documents
• Representing the Department in court proceedings
• Developing and implementing legal strategies to achieve Department goals
• Collaborating with other Department staff to achieve common objectives

• Juris Doctorate from an accredited college or university
• License to practice law in the State of Georgia or eligibility to sit for the next Georgia Bar examination
• Experience working in a law office representing a governmental entity
• Experience dealing with requests for documents under the Open Records Act
• Experience working in a correctional or law enforcement setting

• Experience reviewing and analyzing pleadings, subpoenas, and similar documents
• Employment law experience
• Civil rights law experience
• Experience providing instruction to adults in a classroom setting
