Job SummaryWe are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our team at Optum. As a Phlebotomist, you will be responsible for collecting blood and other specimens from patients, preparing them for laboratory testing, and maintaining accurate records.
Key Responsibilities- Collect blood and other specimens from patients using various techniques, including venipuncture and capillary puncture.
- Prepare specimens for laboratory testing, including labeling and packaging.
- Enter accessioning data into the computer system.
- Inventory supplies and prepare phlebotomy stations to ensure efficient collection of blood.
- Attend required meetings and participate in inservice training to enhance professional growth and development.
- Perform EKG, Holter Monitor, and Spirometry procedures as needed.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to all relevant laws and regulations.
- Certification from an accredited phlebotomy diploma program.
- 1+ years of phlebotomy experience (additional education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirement).
- Knowledge of laboratory techniques and procedures.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate with patients, laboratory staff, and medical staff.

Exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a medical group and laboratory environment.
