Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our team at Optum. As a Phlebotomist, you will be responsible for collecting blood and other specimens from patients, preparing them for laboratory testing, and maintaining accurate records.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect blood and other specimens from patients using various techniques, including venipuncture and capillary puncture.
  • Prepare specimens for laboratory testing, including labeling and packaging.
  • Enter accessioning data into the computer system.
  • Inventory supplies and prepare phlebotomy stations to ensure efficient collection of blood.
  • Attend required meetings and participate in inservice training to enhance professional growth and development.
  • Perform EKG, Holter Monitor, and Spirometry procedures as needed.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to all relevant laws and regulations.
Requirements
  • Certification from an accredited phlebotomy diploma program.
  • 1+ years of phlebotomy experience (additional education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirement).
  • Knowledge of laboratory techniques and procedures.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate with patients, laboratory staff, and medical staff.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification from an accredited phlebotomy diploma program.
  • 1+ years of phlebotomy experience (additional education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirement).
Working Conditions

Exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a medical group and laboratory environment.
