We are seeking a skilled Welder/Manufacturer to join our team at the City of Clearwater, FL. As a key member of our Solid Waste department, you will be responsible for fabricating and welding various equipment and tools used in the manufacturing and maintenance of solid waste containers.
Key Responsibilities:- Apply extensive welding techniques to fabricate, repair, and maintain equipment and tools used in the manufacturing and maintenance work for the Solid Waste department.
- Use various metal working equipment, measuring tools, and design techniques to accomplish goals.
- Perform welding on ferrous and non-ferrous materials in various states of repair and condition.
- Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled care on light, heavy, or specialized equipment; keep accurate performance and maintenance records for identified equipment and tools.
- Weld and repair City-owned dumpsters, roll-offs, and compactors; assist in the installation of trash compactors and prepare new containers for service.
- Create, fabricate, weld, and perform cutting and fitting work in the care and maintenance of dumpsters and other solid waste containers.
- Operate forklift and other equipment for moving dumpsters; apply all safety regulations and compliance standards.
- Test and inspect welded surfaces and structures to identify flaws or weaknesses; apply various forms of welding and knowledge to fabricate, refurbish, and repair.
- A valid State driver's license is required.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a Forklift Certification within one (1) year of hire.
- High School Diploma, High School Equivalency or G.E.D. Certificate AND two (2) years of experience as a Welder/Manufacturer; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
