Soliant is seeking a skilled and dedicated Sign Language Interpreter to provide interpretation and translation services to facilitate communication between students who are deaf or hard of hearing and their peers, teachers, and staff.
Key Responsibilities- Interpret spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- Provide support in various educational settings, including classrooms, meetings, and extracurricular activities.
- Adapt signing style to match the needs and preferences of students.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to ensure effective communication and support for students.
- Maintain confidentiality of all interpreted conversations and information.
- High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor's degree preferred).
- Certification from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) or equivalent.
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and English.
- Previous experience as a sign language interpreter preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- California Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA): Required for working in California public schools.
- Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) Certification: Preferred, but not required.
