Clinical Data Associate

Character Biosciences is a cutting-edge drug discovery and development company that leverages advanced data platforms to drive innovation in the field of clinical research. We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Data Associate to join our team and contribute to the accuracy and completeness of our clinical data entry processes.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in clinical data management, with experience in optimizing data entry and review processes, leading process improvements, and ensuring data integrity. This role will collaborate closely with our Clinical Research, Data Science, and Engineering teams to optimize data workflows, enhance quality control measures, and ensure the seamless implementation of new manual and automated processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Continuously optimize data entry and review processes to reduce manual review with automation.
  • Independently manage data entry tasks to ensure all patient records are accurate and complete.
  • Lead efforts to collect outstanding data from sites, ensuring timely and comprehensive data submission.
  • Collaborate with Clinical Data Manager to uphold stringent data quality control standards.
  • Conduct daily reviews of patient records for eligibility and escalate cases to Clinical Advisors as needed.
  • Lead weekly meetings with Clinical Advisors to receive input on patient study eligibility.
  • Update the weekly data dashboard for team meetings.
  • Maintain up-to-date quality documentation and data integrity.
  • Assist in pulling and analyzing key data metrics to address data inquiries and support decision-making.
  • Work alongside the engineering team on data system improvements, while supporting the Clinical Data Manager in executing larger initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree with 2+ years of clinical data management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with clinical data; additional experience with longitudinal data is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Highly organized, with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Google Suite, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Powerpoint.
  • Adaptable in managing shifting priorities in a dynamic startup environment.
  • Exceptional troubleshooting and organizational abilities.
  • Willing and eager to learn.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with automated data extraction techniques (e.g., OCR or LLMs).
  • Background in data analysis using programming languages such as R or Python.
  • Prior experience with databases like SQL and with interactive dashboards like Tableau, Vega, or Microsoft Power BI.
