Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Health and Safety Specialist to join our team at the Peachtree City, GA facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and implementing the site's Health and Safety programs, ensuring compliance with corporate, local, state, and federal regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and implement Health and Safety programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Perform activities necessary to ensure facility compliance with all corporate, local, state, and federal Health and Safety regulations
  • Interact with outside vendors to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Coordinate the Annual Health and Safety Action Plan and Corporate mandated plans and objectives
  • Assist with the facilitation of EH&S meetings, Contractor and Visitor Health and Safety Orientations
  • Stay up to date with local, state, and federal safety and health regulations and keep informed of all upcoming regulations and their effect on the facility
  • Assist in training staff on general safety policies and procedures to be followed by plant personnel in compliance with corporate, local, state, and federal OSHA rules and regulations
  • Assist in identification, analysis, and control of occupational hazards requiring the application of professional engineering knowledge, skill, and abilities
  • Facilitate inspection of facility to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards and recommend corrective or preventive measures where appropriate
  • Assist in the research, planning, organizing, and conducting of safety programs and seminars
  • Write material for new safety programs; review, evaluate, and modify existing and proposed programs; recommend appropriate changes
  • Assist managers, supervisors, and operators with problems and answer any questions they may have concerning health and safety matters
  • Assist with preparing and administering various safety programs
  • Prepare and distribute safety program aids such as instructional material, handouts, evaluation forms, and visual aids; set up audiovisual equipment and make presentations when necessary
  • Schedule and administer Forklift Safety Program and schedule one onsite safety shoe truck each year for employees to purchase safety shoes
  • Support adherence to EH&S Systems by hourly workforce, lead by example
  • Participate in the development, understanding, and review of all position JSA's
  • Maintain and update Corrective and Preventive Action, Objectives and Program, and Performance Measurement and Monitoring Logs
  • Collect/enter Near Miss/SMAT and Forklift SMAT card info into plant tracking spreadsheet
Requirements
  • Associates degree in industrial safety/health/hygiene and/or 2-3 years of related EHS experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Excellent communication skills written/oral and analytical skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Computer literate and experience using Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Exhibit safety awareness and safe work practices
  • Familiarity and experience with WCM methodology
  • High level of analytical skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team with a sense of urgency
