Position Overview:

The Clinical Chaplain serves as a vital resource in delivering Spiritual Care within the healthcare environment, addressing the spiritual needs of patients, families, and staff. This role emphasizes support during times of spiritual distress, grief, and significant life transitions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Actively participates as a member of the healthcare team, addressing the spiritual needs of those in care.
  • Designs and leads spiritual care initiatives to foster healthy communities and sacred spaces.
  • Collaborates with faith leaders from various traditions to enhance spiritual support for community members.
  • Reports to the Spiritual Care Manager and may work closely with site supervisors.

What You Will Do:
  • Provide spiritual care coverage from Tuesday to Saturday, 12 PM to 8 PM.
  • Embody and promote the mission, vision, and values of the organization in all interactions.
  • Facilitate transformative spiritual experiences for patients, residents, and colleagues.
  • Honor and respect the diverse religious beliefs and practices of those served.
  • Implement assessment processes to identify spiritual and ethical needs, providing appropriate interventions.
  • Document spiritual care assessments and interventions in the electronic medical record.
  • Integrate spiritual care into the overall healing process as a collaborative healthcare team member.
  • Evaluate and enhance spiritual care processes in alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Encourage non-spiritual care colleagues to provide basic spiritual support through education and modeling.
  • Promote workplace spirituality initiatives in collaboration with leadership.
  • Facilitate interfaith and specific faith-based practices as appropriate.
  • Maintain a sacred environment and support personal self-care initiatives.
  • Stay informed about relevant laws, regulations, and organizational policies to ensure ethical practice.

Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Theology, Spiritual Care, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience in Spiritual Care, including Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE).
  • Board Certification as a Chaplain is preferred.
  • Completion of 4 units of ACPE accredited Clinical Pastoral Education is required.
  • Faith-based endorsement recognized by certifying agencies is necessary.
  • Ability to develop and implement programs addressing the spiritual needs of patients and families.
  • Strong communication skills in English, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse groups.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant software applications.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative work environment.
  • Exhibit integrity, compassion, and the ability to inspire others.
