Three 12-hour shifts.

The Radiologic Technologist, under the supervision of the Medical Director and/or Section Head, along with the manager and Radiologist, is responsible for performing technical imaging procedures and aiding in the clinical assessment and care of patients.

This role involves utilizing specific imaging modalities to generate diagnostic images while ensuring a safe and positive experience for patients.

In modalities that produce radiation, technologists adhere to the radiation safety protocols as outlined by the New York State Department of Health.

Technologists are encouraged to engage in continuous education and training as technology evolves, benefiting both themselves and their colleagues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain proficient imaging skills in designated modalities.
- Pursue professional growth and contribute to a dynamic Imaging department that fosters a positive environment.
- Comply with hospital and departmental policies, as well as New York State and accrediting agency standards.
- Assist physicians in all procedural aspects within their designated area.
- Ensure a safe and positive experience for patients.
- Participate in on-call duties.
- Rotate through the Main Department and all satellite locations.
- Serve as a mentor and preceptor for new staff and students.
- Actively support Albany Medical Center and the imaging department in maintaining necessary accreditations.
- Accurately enter patient data into computer systems.
- Conduct quality assurance checks on images and patient information for accuracy before transmission to PACs.

Demonstrate the knowledge and skills essential for providing patient care that is appropriate to the age and specific characteristics of the patient.

Obtain peripheral IV access and administer contrast material as needed.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/G.E.D. - required
- Graduate of an accredited one-year AMA Radiologic Technology program - required
- 1-3 years of experience - required
- Ability to perform independently; support less experienced MITs

Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care appropriate to the age and special characteristics of the patient.
