Aircraft Painter Job Description

At Flightstar Aircraft Services, LLC, we are seeking a skilled Aircraft Painter to join our team. As an Aircraft Painter, you will be responsible for preparing and painting aircraft surfaces, ensuring a high level of quality and attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Preparation and Painting: Prepare metal and other surfaces on aircraft and equipment for painting, applying lacquers, primers, synthetic enamels, polyurethane, and epoxy with spray guns, brushes, and rollers.
  • Surface Preparation: Mask trim and other parts not to be painted, clean, sand, and prepare surfaces for painting independently or with others with no supervision.
  • Paint Application: Apply primer and finish coats to aircraft, parts, and ground support equipment, using lacquers and synthetic paints and enamels.
  • Lead and Support: Perform as the Alternate Lead and related functions, as required, and support other painters as needed.
  • Inventory and Maintenance: Maintain paint supplies and materials, ensuring adequate inventory on hand, and ensure proper cleaning and maintenance of spray guns and other painting equipment.
  • Record Keeping: Prepare and maintain simple records, such as work order documentation, turnover logs, and time and material records, as instructed.
Requirements:
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED
  • Languages: Must be able to read, write, and speak effectively in English regarding safety-sensitive work activities
  • Special Licenses: FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certification, valid state driver's license
  • Experience: Three to five years of relevant aircraft painter experience, providing knowledge of work techniques, terminology, parts, etc.
  • Technical Skills: Good knowledge of safety precautions required in performing the work of the trade, general knowledge of stenciling, skill in the use of spray guns, and ability to mix and match paints
Physical Requirements:
  • Lifting and Carrying: Lifts and carries hand tools, parts, and work materials
  • Working Conditions: Works around unpleasant or toxic fumes and materials, requires initial (baseline) and annual physicals to ensure continued good personal health
