POSITION SUMMARY
The Assistant Branch Manager plays a crucial role in supporting the Branch Manager with a wide range of customer service and sales initiatives, while also aiding in lending operations to foster branch expansion. This position involves mentoring, developing, and overseeing all branch personnel, ensuring a high level of service and operational efficiency. The Assistant Branch Manager is actively engaged in meeting sales and service targets and enhancing customer relationships through proactive outreach and needs assessment. Additionally, this role supports the consumer and small business lending processes, stepping into a leadership position in the absence of the Branch Manager.
EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree is preferred.
- At least 3 years of experience in sales and service within a retail or financial services environment.
- Experience in consumer/residential lending is advantageous.
- Prior supervisory experience is required.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills are essential.
- Familiarity with Consumer and Small Business Lending Operations, Teller and Customer Service Representative functions, as well as bank products and services.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Capacity to adapt to changing circumstances.
- Knowledge of financial operating policies, banking regulations (both state and federal), employee development, and public relations is preferred.
- Participation in all mandatory compliance training, including Bank Secrecy Act/anti-money laundering training, as well as internal and external training programs, online courses, meetings, and seminars/conferences.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists the Branch Manager with the overall operations in Loan Support, Teller, and Customer Service areas.
- Cross-trained to operate a Teller window during peak customer periods or staffing shortages, and to fill in as a Customer Service Representative.
- Aids the Head Teller in preparing monthly reports on Teller Transactions and Teller Over and Short Reports, along with quarterly self-assessments.
- Participates in interviewing consumer and small business loan applicants and assists with the loan application process as necessary.
- Remains informed about all training related to regulations applicable to lending and deposit areas, as well as branch operations.
- Cultivates new relationships and accounts, actively cross-selling bank products and services through outreach efforts.
- Updates and monitors sales activities using designated tracking systems.
- Maintains awareness of security policies and procedures.
- Assists in achieving internal performance objectives for branch sales, deposit and loan growth, and audit report quality.
- Motivates, trains, and coaches staff to meet branch objectives. Aids in scheduling, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions when necessary.
- Represents the financial institution in community activities, which may include civic responsibilities and business development outreach.
SUPERVISORY ROLE
In the absence of the Branch Manager, the Assistant Branch Manager is responsible for coaching, developing, and managing the performance of branch employees.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position is located within the United Community Bank footprint.
POSITION TYPE
This is a full-time role that requires flexibility in scheduling to accommodate evening and weekend work as needed.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
This position may involve up to 25% travel.
