Job Overview

The Lee Group is seeking a skilled Machine Operator to join our client's converting department in Suffolk, Virginia. As a Machine Operator, you will be responsible for operating fiberboard slitting machines to convert large sheets of fiberboard into customer-specified sizes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safety First: Prioritize the safety of yourself, your peers, and overall operations.
  • Equipment Operation: Safely operate fiberboard slitting machines, ensuring efficient and accurate production.
  • Machine Setup: Perform machine setups, including adjusting settings and loading materials, to meet production requirements.
  • Quality Control: Monitor machine operations and conduct regular quality checks to ensure high-quality products.
  • Troubleshooting: Address equipment issues and perform minor maintenance as needed to minimize downtime.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with team members to optimize production processes and achieve production goals.
  • Housekeeping: Maintain a clean and organized work environment to ensure a safe and efficient workspace.
  • Documentation: Accurately complete production logs and reports to track production progress and identify areas for improvement.
Qualifications
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: At least 1 year of experience operating industrial machinery preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Intermediate mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
    • Ability to take precise measurements down to 1/16th of an inch.
    • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
    • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
    • Comfortable standing and walking for extended periods.
    • Ability to work in environments with large temperature swings.
