Job Title: K-4th Grade Teacher

The Diocese of Allentown is seeking a dedicated and passionate K-4th Grade Teacher to join our team at Holy Guardian Angels Regional School in Reading. As a key member of our educational community, you will play a vital role in shaping the minds of our students and helping them grow into compassionate and knowledgeable individuals.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced teacher who can develop and implement engaging lesson plans, create a safe and inclusive learning environment, and foster a love of learning in our students. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, be able to work collaboratively with colleagues, and demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional growth and development.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that meet the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
  • Create a safe and healthy classroom environment that promotes learning and student success.
  • Actively instruct students, create lesson plans, assign and grade homework, manage classroom behavior, communicate with parents, and help students grow and understand their faith.
  • Exhibit enthusiasm for learning and foster academic abilities in students.
  • Supervise students in hallways, cafeterias, and other areas, ensuring safety and security.
  • Evaluate student performances, provide feedback, and maintain fair, accurate, and timely grading policies.
  • Maintain professional growth, adhere to professional standards, and demonstrate leadership and sound judgment.
  • Motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge to provide an effective educational foundation.
  • Organize daily class time, develop weekly lessons, and provide instructions for substitutes.
  • Evaluate student progress, keep records, and prepare progress reports and report cards.
  • Maintain confidentiality and follow all Diocese of Allentown policies.
  • Establish and maintain student supervision, upholding Holy Guardian Regional School's discipline procedures.
  • Attend in-service training meetings, workshops, and faculty meetings.
  • Participate in school events, activities, and fundraisers.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Education or equivalent.
  • PA K-4th Grade certification required.

  • Must communicate effectively with parents, students, and colleagues in a positive and enthusiastic manner.
  • Possess an understanding of child development and the skills necessary to relate to students being taught.
  • Possess an understanding of the supervision of employees and the communication skills necessary to relate to adult employees and volunteers.
  • Ability to handle classroom situations with fairness and patience.
  • Able to maintain a high level of energy and respond calmly to overwhelming and difficult situations.
